- Linking Credit Values to a Certificate
After a course has been created, you can access Certificates from within the course as shown below.
Add New Certificate
To add a new certificate, click CERTIFICATE from the list of course items and complete the Basic and Advanced tabs in the Add Certificate dialog box.
The Basic tab includes required information in order to add a certificate. To begin, enter the details as shown below.
Set the Certificate Name
Enter a name for the certificate.
Add a description
Enter a text describing the details of the certificate.
Select a Certificate Design Template
You can select a template for the new certificate from the list of available templates or add new certificate templates by clicking + (ADD A NEW TEMPLATE) button. Adding a template allows you to further customize the look and feel of your certificate.
A dialog box appears asking whether you want to proceed to the Certificate Template Builder. Click Proceed to go to the Certificate Template Builder, or click Cancel to exit the dialog box.
Select course items
This section lets you select course items that must be completed by the participants to receive a certificate. Use the check boxes to select your desired course items, or click Select All to select every item within the course.
The course items table shows columns for the credits that are attached to each course item. The numbers shown in each column are credit values for each course item. The Total row shows the total number of credit values that will be awarded.
You can slide the toggle to allow participants to view the certificate, or you can choose to hide it.
The Advanced tab contains additional options for adding a new certificate.
Set Purchasable (When Ecommerce is Enabled)
You can choose a group and set pricing. This allows your participants the flexibility to access the material if they have purchased it.
Enter the Group ID (When Groups are Enabled)
This option allows you to control visibility and access criteria for a particular group. You can select the desired groups that need to participate from the available list of groups. Click the plus symbol next to the group names to add it to the selected groups list.
Set the Guest Viewable Toggle
Slide the toggle to allow participants view the certificate even if they are logged out.
Set the Guest Access Toggle
Slide the toggle to allow participants to click and access the content without a login.
You can also attach useful meta data to the certificate to make it easier to find. Enter the search keywords, separated with commas in the text box.
After completing the entries, click Create Certificate.
Credit values are assigned points awarded to a participant for completing course items in Path. Credit values can be applied to every course item but Sections.
Credit values can be assigned by navigating to the Advanced tab in any new or existing course item.
To enter the credit values,
1) Navigate to Courses tab and open a course.
2) Open an existing item or create a new one.
3) Click Edit and Select the Advanced tab.
4) Scroll down to the Credit Values field.
5) Enter the credit values in the Available Credits section.
6) Click Add a New Credit Type icon to add new credit values.
7) Update the existing Path item.
The assigned credit values are seen from the content homepage as shown below.
Linking Credit Values to a Certificate
After assigning credit values to content, you can link the credits to a certificate.
1) Open an existing certificate, or create a certificate from scratch.
2) Open the certificate.
3) Click Edit button.
4) Under the Basic tab, navigate to the Course Items section as shown below.
5) Select the course item(s) to assign content to. The credit values are displayed to the right of the item description.
6) Click Update Certificate.
The certificate is now linked to the credit values from each course item assigned.
